Bioremediation and the Bioeconomy

Chapter 25
Among the causes of disruption to aquatic ecosystems, pollution and the spread of invasive alien species are factors of concern. This chapter presents natural solutions for preserving water resources in light of these problems through an interdisciplinary approach combining: (1) robust and sustainable support for the management of invasive alien aquatic plants; (2) early treatment of industrial effluents using biosorbent plant filters; (3) a solution to prevent the formation of undesirable industrial sludge; and (4) chemical and economic valorization of the implemented phytotechnologies.
