In Europe, only one in seven inventors is a woman

From Wi-Fi, invented by Hedy Lamarr, to windshield wipers, invented by Mary Anderson, and Kevlar, invented by Stephanie Kwolek, there are numerous examples of inventions by women. However, these achievements do not obscure the fact that women are underrepresented among patent applicants. In Europe, for example, a study published by the European Patent Office (EPO) shows that women accounted for only 13.2% of inventors who filed patents between 2010 and 2019.
