Claude Grison (CNRS): “Our new concept of ecocatalysis very quickly demonstrated enormous potential in chemistry for creating new molecules.”

As a research director at the CNRS, Claude Grison heads the “Bio-inspired Chemistry and Ecological Innovations” laboratory, whose activities—at the intersection of ecology and chemistry—drive innovation. This work has led her to found several startups, including Bioinspir, which commercializes the results of her research. In June 2022, Claude Grison was awarded the 2022 European Inventor Award by the European Patent Office in the “Research” category for her method of using plants to extract metal elements from contaminated soil and then using these “eco-catalysts” to create new molecules.
