A researcher from Montpellier is scaling up the production of eco-catalysts derived from metal-absorbing plants

Claude Grison is one of the 13 finalists selected by the European Patent Office for its 2022 European Inventor Award. The Montpellier-based researcher at the CRNS has succeeded in extracting the metal elements that a plant had absorbed from polluted soil and transforming them into eco-catalysts. These are highly useful eco-friendly alternatives for the chemical, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics industries. The researcher has founded two startups (BioInspir and Laboratoires Bioprotection) to industrialize and commercialize these processes.
