They are shaping the world of tomorrow

L’Express presents a gallery of portraits featuring about a hundred figures considered inspiring. It’s part of our history. In November 1953, our newspaper published its first “Top 100” list. Men (98 out of 100, no less…) were selected because they were paving the way for the future and were therefore considered the “driving forces” of France. The list of honorees included many already well-known names: Georges Braque, Albert Camus, Gaston Gallimard… In 2018, our list prioritizes exemplary character over fame. And it features as many women as men. We do so with the conviction that each of us holds not only the keys to our own future, but also the ability to advance our society—to change the world. Our world.
