Using the fallen leaves of certain plants known as “metal-accumulating plants” that grow on mining sites, it is possible to produce compounds useful to the chemical industry. This is currently being demonstrated by a CNRS laboratory in New Caledonia in collaboration with the New Caledonian Agronomic Institute. Its director, Claude Grison, visited a new experimental site on Koniambo in late March.
