Women remain significantly underrepresented in scientific patents

Fewer than 2 out of 10 inventors in France are women, according to a study by the European Patent Office published this week. In the fields of science, technology, physics, and mathematics, barely 16% of scientific patents were filed by women between 2018 and 2022—a figure that is admittedly slightly higher than the European average, but still far from the mark.
