An effective and eco-friendly solution for cleaning up soil and water: plants

Some municipalities are turning to plant-based filters to capture pollutants from water and soil. For example, powdered mint and knotweed roots are proving effective in cleaning up a waterfall in a municipality that is home to what was once Europe’s largest zinc mine. These are “emerging” techniques, but they are already proving effective.
